Wins gold with personal best – NBC New York

If American athlete Quincy Hall ever ran a personal best in the 400m, it was the final of the Olympic Games. On Wednesday, he did just that, running his best time in the event and taking home the gold medal.

In a very competitive race, with a difference of 0.04 seconds, Hall achieved his personal best time of 43.40 seconds and took first place.

Britain’s Matthew Hudson-Smith finished just behind Hall to take the silver medal with a time of 43.44, and Muzala Samukonga of Zambia took the bronze medal with a time of 43.74.

Hall, 26, was considered the favorite to medal in the event after winning a bronze medal at the 2023 World Championships and taking the title at the U.S. Olympic qualifiers in June.

American Michael Norman was also a favorite for the podium, but he was penalized for improper contact and ended up in last place with a time of 45.62 seconds. Chris Bailey finished sixth with a time of 44.58 seconds.

At the eliminations in June, Hall took first place with a time of 44.17 seconds, followed by Norman with 44.31 seconds.

It was Hall’s first Olympic medal, and he was cheered on by hordes of fans waving American flags in the Paris stadium.

Some of the US track and field stars congratulated him on social media.
