10 things you may not know about Sheetz, which will soon be present throughout Michigan

It’s not just a gas station and an electric vehicle station. It’s more of a one-stop shop and soon it will be available across Michigan.

Sheetz, the Mid-Atlantic’s largest restaurant and convenience chain, just announced the grand opening date for its first Michigan location: Tuesday, August 27, at 33380 Wick Road in Romulus.

The store, which opened in March of this year, will open at 8 a.m. with a grand opening celebration planned from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.

Sheetz is currently hiring for this location. They will employ approximately 30 people, most of them full-time. You can apply here.

  • The Romulus opening is just the first of 50 to 60 locations Sheetz plans to open in Michigan over the next five to six years, most of them in the Detroit metropolitan area.
  • Michigan is Sheetz’s first new state in two decades.
  • Every single Sheetz is open 24/7/365.
  • Sheetz has a drive-thru with indoor and outdoor dining options.
  • Each location will offer food.
  • Sheetz offers a wide variety of made-to-order food and beverage options including breakfast, subs, sandwiches, salads, pizza, coffee, cold brew, milkshakes and smoothies.
  • Sheetz has one of the largest electric vehicle charging networks in the country.
  • There are about 750 Sheetz locations nationwide.
  • Sheetz was founded as a small family business in 1952 when 18-year-old Bob Sheetz purchased one of his father’s dairies in Altoona, Pennsylvania.
  • The second Sheetz store opened in 1963 and today, 70 years later, the company serves more than 1.5 million customers daily.
