13 filming locations for “Stranger Things” in Georgia, including 3 from season 5

The wait for the fifth – and supposedly final – season of the hit Netflix series “Stranger Things” has slowly begun: Season 4 started in 2022. After delays caused by labor disputes in the film industry, the fifth season has been filming in the Atlanta area since early 2024 and is scheduled to run until the end of the year. The premiere of the final season is planned for summer 2025, with a specific date to be announced soon.

The episodes are likely to be different this time. Maya Hawke, who plays Robin in the series, said in the podcast “Podcrushed” that the episodes are “very long” and that the season consists of “basically eight films.”

If you’re tired of waiting for Stranger Things to return to the big screen, you can head to Georgia and visit some of the filming locations.

Three locations where the cast and crew were spotted filming are:

1. WSQK radio station discontinued, Chattahoochee Hills, Georgia. According to fan reports, the new radio station in Season 5 was built in a field on Hutchinson Ferry Road near Cochran Mill.

2. Steinberg Park in Stone Mountain, Georgia, served as the setting for “The Upside Down,” another dimension of the series. According to HawkinsAVClub on Reddit, the wooded area was littered with all sorts of Demogorgon tentacles wrapped around the trees. Make of that what you will…

In Stone Mountain, you can also drive past 5280 Moore Street, which serves as the exterior of the Hargrove House.

3. Creel House, Rome, Georgia. The beautiful Second Empire-style Claremont House will appear again in “Stranger Things,” according to the Rome News-Tribune. The 7,000-square-foot house at 906 E. Second Avenue was built in 1882 for Hamilton “Colonel” Yancey and Florence Julia Peterson Yancey. The Yancey family owned it until the early 1960s. Tours are only available by drive-by.
