Support the education of local children by stopping by Taste of Eastlake this Friday from 6:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. at the Chula Vista Elite Training Center. This 21-and-over event hosted by the Eastlake Educational Foundation will include an auction, live entertainment and a lineup of South Bay vendors offering flavors from around the world. Proceeds from this event will fund STEAM programs in the community’s K-12 public schools. General admission tickets to Taste of Eastlake are $75 and can be purchased here.

Crossing to the south Star Jorge Meraz brings the Baja California experience to Liberty Station’s Ingram Plaza from noon to 4 p.m. At Saturday’s Crossing South Festival, you can sample Baja California’s best food and wine, browse several tour and travel booths, and enjoy live music. Tickets are $75 for general admission, $68 for children, and $145 for VIP, which includes perks like a meet and greet with Meraz, a coupon for a free bottle of wine, preferred seating, and more.

The San Diego Fishermen’s Working Group and the Puffer Malarkey Collective are teaming up to host an evening of seafood tastings this Sunday from 6-10 p.m. at the Tuna Harbor Market Pier. Stop by Seaport Village to sample locally sourced seafood in creative dishes from a handful of local chefs. There will also be a cash bar and a live music program featuring Sounds by Nikki, Good Gravy Street Blues and The Barnacle Boys. Tickets for this 21-and-over event are $100 and include a tasting from each chef.

This Friday, artist Rey Wolf will serenade the crowd at Lou Lou’s Jungle Room at 8 p.m., followed by a 10 p.m. concert by Lady Dottie & The Diamonds, a blues group fronted by Alabama native Dorothy Mae Whitsett. No reservations are required for this show at the sultry and elegant Lafayette Hotel nightclub, but seating will be available on a first-come, first-served basis.

This Friday, the Rady Shell will host a concert dedicated to the most popular maestro of musical theatre. Conducted by Rob Fisher Sondheim tonight! A celebration of genius will include the San Diego Symphony Orchestra, a handful of experienced Broadway singers, a vocal ensemble of San Diego State students, and guest singer Len Cariou, who played Sweeney Todd in the original production. Ocean Beach natives Slightly Stoopid will rock the North Island Credit Union Amphitheatre this Saturday night at 6 p.m. with Dirty Heads, Common Kings and The Elovaters. This hometown stop on the Slightly Dirty Summer 2024 Tour will showcase why Slightly Stoopid are local legends, mixing rap, punk and reggae for an exciting night of jams. The fourth edition of the Oceanside Museum of Art’s Street Level series focuses on the group exhibition More disruption: representational art in transitionfeaturing more than 50 artists. This month’s party features live music from Montalban Quintet and Nicey Nice with Marcelo Radulovich, snacks from the Epic Eatz Food Truck and performances by More disruptions Artists Miguel Camacho-Padilla and David Fobes from 6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Admission to the Street Level is free for museum members and children under 17, while adult tickets are $15.

DEBUT by The Rosin Box Project

The Rosin Box Project (TRBP) presents two ballet performances this weekend at the California Center for the Arts, Escondido. The audience at DEBUT You’ll experience brand new choreography from the duo FLOCK (Alice Klock and Florian Lochner), Ballet West principal dancer Emily Adams, and TRBP artist Katie Spagnoletti. Plus, you’ll get a preview of a bold new project from TRBP artistic director Carly Topazio. Tickets for the Saturday (7:30 p.m.) and Sunday (6:00 p.m.) performances are $30 each.

The Leucadia 101 Main Street free art spectacular invites visitors to stroll or ride the streetcar down a mile of the 101 and visit eight unique artist plazas displaying works selected for the juried exhibition. Ramona Rodeo at Fred Grand Arena

The PRCA Rodeo makes its annual stop at the Fred Grand Arena this weekend. Ramona’s newest rodeo queen will preside over three days of Wild West theatrics such as bareback riding, bull wrestling, barrel racing and bull riding. Visitors can enjoy the daring stunts and attend special events such as the evening post-rodeo concerts or the Saturday morning Cowboy Church. General admission tickets to the Ramona Rodeo are $20 for Thursday and $25 for Friday and Saturday.

San Diego Padres vs. New York Mets at Petco Park

The Padres look to pull away in the Wild Card race and challenge the Dodgers’ lead in the division when they begin a crucial four-game series against the New York Mets this Thursday at Petco Park. Cheer on the Padres and enjoy weekend festivities, such as the Fishing Hat Awards (Thursday) and the Festive Party in the Park (Friday). Enjoy amazing views of the South Bay and downtown during the 17th annual Bike the Bay, a mostly flat two-wheel ride that offers a rare opportunity to ride across the Coronado Bay Bridge. Participants who sign up for Bike the Bay will start and finish at Embarcadero Marina Park. At the end of their 25-mile workout, riders can hang out at a festival with food, beer gardens and live entertainment.
