Welcome to the fall 2024 semester, Buffs! This week brings Connect at the Rec, the Be Involved Fair, CUnity, the 2024 football season kickoff against North Dakota State in Folsom, and more.

Come by the Rec this week for swimming, buffalo yoga, free fitness classes, buff pool battleship, glow-in-the-dark ultimate, rock climbing and more. Come find your Get fit at the Rec and be sure to bring your Buff OneCard!


Monday, August 26

11am to 3pm UMC South Terrace
Start the new school year by taking a souvenir photo of the first day of school! You can also decorate a picture frame and grab snacks on the way to class.

26–27 August, 10:30 a.m.–12:30 p.m. Norlin Library, West Entrance
Stop by Norlin Library and meet some of CU’s friendly and helpful librarians who can help you navigate campus, introduce you to library services, and provide other helpful information.


Tuesday, August 27

Attend this workshop to learn organization and time management strategies, as well as other general tips for preparing for a successful semester.

4-6pm Sewall Lawn
Visit the Center for Inclusion and Social Change and enjoy free food, games, and music at CUnity. Learn about campus resources and meet student organizations and multicultural Greek leaders.

5pm-10pm UMC Glenn Miller Ballroom
Celebrate the gaming culture on campus and get to know CU’s gaming student organizations. Enjoy an evening of video games, esports tournaments, tabletop RPGs, board games, and collectible card games.

  • Denver Botanical Garden: Pick up tickets on August 28th between 10 a.m. and noon at UMC 330 to visit the Denver Botanic Gardens on Monday, September 2nd.
  • Elitch Gardens: Pick up tickets on August 28th between 10 a.m. and noon at UMC 330 to visit Elitch Gardens on Saturday, August 31st.
  • Rockies games: Pick up tickets on August 29th between 10 a.m. and noon at UMC 330 to watch the Rockies take on the Baltimore Orioles at Coors Field on August 30 or September 1.

Wednesday, August 28

Adding plants after moving into a new apartment can help make it feel more like home. Join us in planting succulents and get resources to help you create a safe and healthy home.

11am-2pm Recreation center for students
Attend Campus Rec’s job fair and program showcase to learn about the variety of job opportunities available at The Rec. Don’t miss this fantastic opportunity to get involved early, gather valuable information, and make the most of your campus experience!

2pm-6pm Farrand Field
Whether you want to join a student organization, connect with a campus department, volunteer in your community on an issue you care about, or discover a new hobby you’d like to try, the Be Involved Fair is the place to be.


Thursday, August 29

4:00 p.m.–5:30 p.m. Farrand Field
Come cheer on the Buffs before the first home game. Enjoy free food, games, music and a chance to be voted Student Fan of the Game. The selected Student Fan of the Game will be allowed to enter Folsom Field during the game!

6pm Folsom Field
Come cheer on the Buffs as they face North Dakota State to kick off the 2024 football season!


Friday, August 30

Registration until August 28
Find your place on campus by participating in Sorority Recruitment! There are several rounds of recruitment, including three days of date night events (August 30-September 1). These events allow you to meet current sorority members and learn about each chapter. Register for Sorority Recruitment by Wednesday, August 28 to participate in the date night events. Registration until August 29
If you’re looking for a group of lifelong friends on campus, consider joining a Greek sorority. The CU Interfraternity Council of Fraternity & Sorority Life represents 10 university-accredited sororities that offer an experience that connects its members directly with our campus community. Register for sorority recruitment by August 29 to participate in the official rush. Sorority recruitment open houses will be held August 31-September 8, where you can meet current sororities and learn about each chapter.

Saturday, August 31

9 a.m. to 3 p.m. UMC South Terrace Tent
CU in the Community is a series of one-time, student-led volunteer projects offered each semester in collaboration with local nonprofit organizations.. During this Garden to Table opportunity, volunteers will beautify the gardens and garden areas by weeding and harvesting (and tasting).

7-8pm Fiske Planetarium
Immerse yourself in the cosmos and learn more about the new findings of the largest, most powerful and most complex space telescope ever built and sent into space.
