3 things we learned from the pre-Mike Tyson vs. Jake Paul press conference

On Sunday, Mike Tyson and Jake Paul met for a press conference ahead of their highly anticipated (and controversial) boxing match later this year. The fight was supposed to take place, but a health issue for 58-year-old Tyson pushed the event back to November 15. The press conference was lively and full of interesting anecdotes, but we’ve picked out three special moments that we think fans should pay attention to in case you missed the press conference.

Many fans were against the fight and are worried about Tyson’s health and safety if he gets knocked out by Paul. He clearly doesn’t think about that.

“People are yelling at me at the event, but what happens if I put this man down?” Paul said. “He says it’s going to be my funeral. He says it’s going to be my wake. He’s going to kill Jake Paul. All of those things, and that’s why I love Mike. I respect him, but we’re not friends anymore by November 15th. I’m knocking this motherfucker down and we’ll see who’s dead.”

We’ve already mentioned that the fight was postponed because Tyson had a stomach ulcer. The ulcer was so bad that he was taken off a plane in an ambulance. He claims he’s better now and ready to go.

“I’m very well prepared (to knock out Jake Paul). I’m very well prepared. I had a little bit of a mishap,” he said. “I got sick, but I feel good. (…) I’m just ready. I’m just ready. I’m going to give my speech and talk my shit, but I’m ready to fight.”

One thing we learned from this press conference is that neither Paul nor Tyson seem to be taking this fight too seriously. They traded jabs during the face-off while laughing and making light of it. Not the best preparation for a fight if you ask me.
