33-year-old man killed in Sunday morning shooting: Passaic prosecutor

PASSAIC, NJ — A 33-year-old man died early Sunday morning in Passaic from a gunshot wound to the chest, officials said.

Since the investigation is still ongoing, authorities did not provide any information about the suspect or identify the victim in an initial statement.

According to Police Chief Luis Guzman and Passaic County District Attorney Camelia M. Valdes, Passaic Police officers arrived at an address in the 200 block of 6th Street at approximately 3:25 a.m. on August 11 after shots were fired.

Police found the man, a Passaic resident, with a gunshot wound to the chest and arranged for him to be transferred to St. Mary’s Hospital, authorities said. He was pronounced dead at the hospital.

“The investigation is ongoing,” officials said in a statement. “Further information will be released as it becomes available.”
