49ers lose Drake Jackson to season-ending injury

The San Francisco 49ers, synonymous with talent and tenacity, recently announced the unfortunate news that defensive end Drake Jackson has been placed on the reserve/physically unable to perform list, putting him out of action for the entire 2024 season. This development adds another layer to the team’s already difficult injury problem. The announcement came just before the team’s season opener and leaves fans on tenterhooks about how this season will play out.

Drake Jackson’s injury saga began last season when he struggled with severe knee problems that led to surgery on his patellar tendon in January. Despite efforts to rehabilitate and prepare for this year’s training camp, his recovery did not go as hoped and his departure was the result before games had even started. 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan recognized the difficult nature of such surgeries, stating, “Any time you do a surgery like this, they’re big surgeries… they take a long time.”
