If you’re looking for furniture deals, Costco and Ikea are good options. Granted, Ikea has a larger selection of furniture pieces than Costco, but that doesn’t mean Costco doesn’t have what you’re looking for at a great price.
Also, keep in mind that quality furniture doesn’t necessarily have to be cheaper to be a better deal. Ultimately, it’s important to consider a number of factors when deciding to purchase a piece of furniture, including comfort, style, durability, and last but not least, the overall cost.

Pushback recliner
A Costco Wessen Push-Back Recliner with 100% Polyester Fabric and Pocket Spring Seat Cushion is priced at $479.99, but may be available in-stock at a lower price without delivery. This recliner comes with individually wrapped pocket springs surrounded by a high-density foam that will retain its shape and cushioning over time. The reclining mechanism also offers a tension adjuster that allows it to easily adjust from an upright position to a reclined sleeping position.
The Ikea Muren recliner, which costs $479.00, is also made of 100% polyester fabric but is made from recycled materials. It features three adjustable positions and a built-in footstool.
Although these two recliners are similar and priced close together, the Wessen recliner from Costco seems to be the clear choice as it may be available in-stock at a lower price without delivery. A July 2024 customer review states that it is available at Costco for $100 less than what it is offered online.
Coffee tables
The Stockholm coffee table from Ikea costs $349.99, has a walnut veneer and a bottom shelf for storage.
The Point Reyes three-piece end table set at Costco also features walnut veneer and lower shelves on all three pieces with the added benefit of adjustable levels for $439.99.

In a direct comparison, the single Ikea coffee table is cheaper than the Costco set. However, you can get a coffee table and two end tables at Costco for only about $90 more, making it a better deal.
Dining tables
Made from genuine acacia wood and tested for durability, the Ikea Skogsta dining table seats up to eight people and costs $549.00.
The Corson Live Edge Table from Costco costs $299.97, also seats up to eight people, and is made of solid mahogany and trembesi veneer.
If you don’t opt for a solid wood table like the Skogsta from Ikea, the Corson Live Edge table from Costco is worth considering, as it offers the same look for about $150 less.
Dining chairs
The Point Reyes Dining Chair from Costco offers two chairs with upholstered seats for $269.99.
The Ikea Ronninge is a similar looking chair for $115, but the seats are not padded. If you were to buy two, you would pay $230 before tax.
Although you can buy two Ikea chairs for less, you may have to spend more than $40 on seat cushions to achieve comparable comfort to the Point Reyes chairs from Costco. Even so, the fit and comfort of the cushions may not be as desirable.
Home office chair
The Lillian August Elyse Plush Velvet Home Office Chair at Costco swivels and comes in three colors: pink, light blue, or beige. It features a contoured back, velvet upholstered seat, and one-touch pneumatic height adjustment with tilt and lock—all for $229.99.
The Tossberg/Malskar home office chair from Ikea comes in eight neutral color combinations and offers adjustable height and swivel for $284.99.
In comparison, Costco’s swivel chair is not as expensive, comes in custom colors, and is recommended by the American Chiropractic Association, making it a better deal.
