5 things you should know about the 75th Agricultural Fair

The 75th County Agricultural Fair begins in two days and promises nine days of fun activities and entertainment. Here are five things you need to know:

Entrance and parking

General admission tickets are $15 on-site and $12 online. Children under 11 are free. Free same-day re-entry with a hand stamp. Parking is $15 per car at the fairgrounds entrance 501 Perry Parkway. Free parking and shuttle service are available from the Montgomery College Rockville Campus, 51 Mannakee Street, and Lakeforest Mall.

Free shows and events

The Pepco Community Stage offers free entertainment including magic shows, musical performances and entertaining acts. Highlights include a Vegas-style hypnosis show, an interactive quiz show, an extreme illusion and escape act and a circus performance that will amaze audiences of all ages.

Competitions

Enter various contests such as My Best Fair Photo with four themed contests throughout the week, the Amateur Cheese Carving Contest on August 12th and a Fashion Design Contest on August 10th sponsored by G Street Fabrics. The Fair Foodie Awards will take place on August 9th at 6 p.m., where the best culinary creations will be presented.

Action days

Special promotion days offer discounts and one-of-a-kind experiences: On Family Day, August 12 and 14, Carnival one-day ride wristbands are $25. Seniors age 62 and older are admitted free until 5:00 p.m. on August 12, and active military personnel in uniform or with a valid military ID are admitted free until 5:00 p.m. on August 15.

Renegade Monster Truck Tour: Wednesday, August 14th and Thursday, August 15th at 7:30 p.m. Enjoy big air jumps from trucks like Killer Bee, Stinger Unleashed and War Wizard. A pit party begins one hour before the show where ticket holders can get autographs and photo opportunities with the drivers and their trucks.

Demolition Derby “Night of Destruction”: Friday, August 16th and Saturday, August 17th at 7:30 p.m. Watch as drivers crash their vehicles into each other until only one is left drivable.

The carnival: Enjoy classic rides, games and delicious treats for the whole family. Wristbands for the rides are sold separately and do not include admission to the fair.

Join us for a celebration that combines tradition and innovation and creates memories that will last a lifetime,” said Mandy German, president of the Montgomery County Agricultural Center.
