Dan Osborne submits signatures for US Senate election in November

Dan Osborn, Nebraska’s independent candidate for U.S. Senate, has submitted voter signatures to appear on the November ballot.

Osborn is a Marine veteran and industrial mechanic from Omaha.

He has until September 3 to collect 4,000 valid signatures, including 750 from each of the three congressional districts.

He is competing for the U.S. Senate seat with Republican candidate Deb Fischer.

“Dan Osborn submitted a shockingly low 12,000 signatures today…,” Fischer said in a press release on Tuesday.

The signatures must now be checked and verified.

Pete Ricketts welcomes JD Vance to Omaha

JD Vance, the Republican vice presidential candidate, will be in Omaha on Wednesday.

Last week it was announced that both vice presidential candidates would stop in Omaha.

Vance will attend a private fundraiser hosted by Senator Pete Ricketts and his family.

“…I am excited to welcome JD Vance to the Cornhusker State,” Ricketts said in an email.

6 News is working to get all the details about the event.

Democratic candidate Tim Walz held a campaign event in the Omaha metropolis on Saturday.

The Democratic Party Convention enters its third day

The Democratic Party Convention is in full swing after it began on Monday.

Bill Clinton will address delegates on Wednesday before Vice President-elect Tim Walz concludes the evening with his speech.

Walz is expected to accept his nomination for vice president on Wednesday.

The Obamas ended the second night of the DNC on Tuesday with strong support from Harris.

Arrests are made during the pro-Palestinian protests in front of the DNC.

Meanwhile, Trump is busy speaking out on crime and security issues during the election campaign.

Special session ends with Pillen’s signature

On Tuesday, Governor Jim Pillen signed the tax reform bill sent to him, ending the special session.

This session was the second longest in Unicam’s history.

Pills provides property tax relief to Nebraska residents.

Initially he hoped for a 50% reduction in property taxes, but was then presented with a 20% reduction. The new law also limits local spending.

The meeting ended with 29 votes to 15.

Pillen says he has no plans to call a second special session.

City of Omaha removes and replaces bike route

Mayor Jean Stothert announced Tuesday that the city will close a bike lane on Harney Street.

In this area, companies are starting work on the tram project.

The bike path is closed on Labor Day (September 3).

Stothert said they are currently in the process of designing a permanent and better bike path for residents that runs across Farnam and Harney streets.

The cycle path is on the opposite side of the tram.

25-year-old man shot dead in Lincoln

A man was recently injured in a shooting near a grocery store in north Lincoln

According to LPD, an argument broke out outside the Kwik Stop and spilled into nearby apartments, where the shooting occurred.

Lincoln officials said a 25-year-old man was shot in the right leg and was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.

According to the LPD, no arrests have been made yet.
