6-year-old Ohio boy was allegedly handcuffed and abused by a pit bull

The six-year-old boy was reportedly handcuffed and bound when a pit bull attacked him.

Responding to a 911 call, officers arrived at the Savannah, Ohio, home on Saturday evening, Aug. 17, and found the child in serious condition with bites on his neck and ear, according to the Ashland County Sheriff’s Office. The boy — referred to as “DM” in court documents obtained by PEOPLE — was quickly flown to the hospital by helicopter.

His mother, Angelina Rose Williams, her boyfriend, Taylor Desiree Marvin-Brown and the owner of the dog, Robert Michael Michalski Jr. has been charged with child endangerment by physical punishment, according to their online inmate roster. The mother and her boyfriend are additionally charged with obstruction of justice by making false statements. Michalski, who also owns the home, is additionally charged with tampering with evidence.

According to investigators, Williams had been living with a relative in Michalski’s house.

In the criminal complaints filed against the three adults and obtained by PEOPLE Archives, prosecutors allege that the trio physically restrained DM “in a cruel manner or for an extended period of time,” resulting in “a substantial risk of serious bodily harm.”

Before officers arrived that Saturday evening, Michalski “left the house” with his dog, according to the sheriff’s office.

Two days after the attack, investigators searched the house and found Michalski, who was “hiding in an upstairs cabin” with his dog, according to the sheriff’s office.

The three were arrested on Monday, August 19, according to their inmate roster. Michalski’s pit bull was also taken into custody “to be housed as a dangerous dog,” according to the sheriff’s office.

Williams, Marvin-Brown and Michalski are being held in the Ashland County Jail with bail set at between $150,000 and $300,000 in cash or surety, according to their inmate roster.

Their online court records did not indicate whether they had already entered a plea to the charges. Williams is represented by Robert Rolf Whitney and Michalski by Donald Keith Wick. Neither was immediately available for comment. An attorney for Marvin-Brown was not listed in his online court record.

All three are scheduled to appear in court via video on Friday, August 23. The virtual hearings are scheduled in 15-minute increments starting at 9 a.m.
