Officially, there is less than a month until the first two teams report to NBA training camp. The NBA offseason is quickly coming to a close, and while there has been a lot of player movement since free agency began, there are still a handful of potentially impactful players available.
As the start of the season draws ever closer, we take a look at eight free agents who deserve to be signed before training camp begins.
It’s pretty crazy to think that Isaac Okoro is still a free agent. But that’s the complexity of restricted free agency. While Okoro is still technically a free agent, it would be surprising if he and the Cleveland Cavaliers don’t agree to a contract extension at some point before training camp begins. He’s too big an asset for the Cavs to let him wander around in the void of free agency at this point in the offseason.
I suppose a sign-and-trade deal is still on the table, but I’d lean toward Okoro finding his way back to the Cavs. And a multi-year deal would probably be best. At this point, though, I think there’s a good chance he ends up betting on himself and playing for the qualifying offer this year.
