885 medical facilities damaged by Russian shelling repaired in Ukraine

UKRAINE, August 19 – Since the start of the large-scale invasion, 885 medical facilities have been restored in Ukraine, of which 530 hospitals have been fully repaired and 355 have been partially repaired, the government portal reported.

The regions of Kharkiv, Donetsk, Mykolaiv, Kyiv, Chernihiv, Dnipro, Kherson and Zaporizhia suffered the greatest losses in the form of damaged or destroyed health facilities during the all-out war.

In the regions of Kharkiv, Dnipropetrovsk, Kyiv, Mykolaiv and Chernihiv, most of the medical facilities have been restored. These were medical facilities in the liberated territories.

In total, the Russian army damaged 1,646 medical facilities and destroyed 215 more in the Kharkiv, Donetsk, Mykolaiv, Kyiv, Chernihiv, Dnipro, Kherson and Zaporizhia regions.

In addition, since the beginning of the large-scale invasion, Russian troops have damaged 198 ambulances, destroyed 261 and captured 125.

Ukrainian Health Minister Viktor Liashko said at the Ukrainian Recovery Conference in Germany that Ukraine needs more than $14 billion over the next ten years to rebuild its medical infrastructure.
