MARIETTA – Ohio Southeast Economic Development has announced a new project manager.

Brad Peoples joined the agency effective August 1, following the departure of Tom Poorman, who recently announced his retirement after decades of involvement in economic development in southeast Ohio.

Prior to joining OhioSE, Peoples served as a Noble County Commissioner for four years and led the commission as Board Chair. He has been a small business owner for most of his professional life and owned a small restaurant for over 14 years. Peoples also has experience in real estate and contract negotiations.

Most recently, Peoples served as a development specialist at the Buckeye Hills Regional Council, where he worked on regional development projects.

“I am taking advantage of this unique career path that I am confident will make me an effective member of the OhioSE team,” People said. “I am ready to help our region address and overcome the very nuanced issues we face every day and hopefully make a small contribution to improving the quality of life for residents in southeast Ohio.”

As a native of Ohio’s Appalachian region, Peoples understands the role of economic development in creating lasting prosperity in the region.

“I look forward to bringing a progressive and professional attitude to the OhioSE team,” People said. “I recognize that we are in a period of economic change. Many businesses, their employees and their customers are struggling with financial burdens that are difficult to manage. Knowing they need an advocate who is compassionate, I look forward to using every professional tool at my disposal to support our local business community, create jobs and improve the quality of life in our region.”

At OhioSE, Peoples will join the project management team responsible for the region’s central districts.

“We are pleased to welcome Brad Peoples as Project Manager at OhioSE,” said Katy Farber, interim president of OhioSE. “His understanding of this specific part of the region, his experience developing projects in his previous role and his passion for making a positive difference to our region are all strong qualities that will make him an outstanding member of our team.”

OhioSE is the JobsOhio network partner for South, East and Southeast Ohio, providing economic development work and resources in 25 rural counties.
