Filming of Repair Shop begins while presenter Jay Blades continues to take a break

Filming for the new season of The Repair Shop has begun without host Jay Blades as he continues to take a break.

The 54-year-old television star announced last month that he would be taking a break from social media following the death of his uncle.

In a video shared on Instagram, he said: “I was just at my uncle’s funeral, he was murdered a few weeks ago. Really, super nice guy, that shouldn’t have happened to him but it really affected me.”

“I’m feeling a little bit out of sorts. So here’s what I’m planning to do. I’m going to stay off social media for a while and I’ll be back shortly. I’m going to do therapy and just relax.”

Blades said he was taking some time off to “take stock and just relax” but confirmed he would be “back soon”.

“Please take care of each other, take care of yourselves, and we’ll see you soon,” he added.

Filming for the new season of the show has begun at the Weald and Downland Living Museum in Chichester, West Sussex.

Blades rose to fame through his restoration show, in which visitors bring in worn-out family heirlooms to be restored by a team of experts. Blade has been the star of the show since it launched in 2017.

Last week, Blades’ wife Lisa Zbozen announced the end of their short-lived marriage.

The couple married on November 22, 2022, on the grounds of a beachfront villa in Barbados.

A spokesman for Blades confirmed that he is still taking time off.
