ATLANTA, Georgia (Atlanta News First) – The man accused of bringing a missing Hall County girl to Ohio is charged with multiple counts of rape, according to Ohio jail records.
Antonio Agustin-Ailon, 34, is accused of transporting the girl from Gainesville to his home in Tuscarawas County, Ohio. The girl was missing for 57 days before being safely found in Ohio.
Agustin-Ailon is accused of picking up the 12-year-old girl from her Gainesville home on May 29 and taking her to Ohio. Investigators said she and the man exchanged messages online, with the girl saying she was unhappy at home.
The child was not found until nearly two months later, when she messaged her father from a Facebook account saying she was not coming home. Investigators traced the IP address to a home in Dover, Ohio, later found Agustin-Ailon with the girl and took him into custody on July 25.
Atlanta News First is no longer naming the girl or showing a picture of her because she is a victim in this case.
Agustin-Ailon was charged with two counts of rape, two counts of pimping, sexual assault and obstruction of custody.
Under Ohio law, promoting obscenity includes creating, reproducing, or publishing “obscene material in which a minor or disabled person is involved or depicted as an observer.”
Agustin-Ailon was initially scheduled to be extradited to Hall County, but is now being held long-term in Ohio.
“Based on the information we currently have, the most serious crimes in this case occurred in Ohio, and the majority of the witnesses necessary to prove a case in Hall County are located in Ohio,” Lee Darragh, district attorney for Georgia’s Northeastern Judicial Circuit, said in a statement. “It makes sense that the suspect would first have to face the charges Ohio is bringing in court.”
