Ohio DOT director resigns September 30

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) Director Jack Marchbanks will resign on September 30 of this year.

A press release from Governor Mike DeWine states that Pamela Vest Boratyn, deputy executive director of the Ohio Police & Fire Pension Fund, will be nominated as his successor effective October 1 and must be confirmed by the Ohio Senate.

“I want to thank Director Marchbanks for his leadership of ODOT since the beginning of my first term as governor,” DeWine said in the release. “Jack shares my vision to increase safety on Ohio’s roadways and ensure our transportation system operates efficiently to serve our residents, businesses and visitors. I am also pleased that Pam Boratyn has agreed to serve as ODOT’s new director. Pam has a passion for public service and a wealth of experience in the transportation sector.”

Marchbanks has served as ODOT director since 2019 and will remain in office as senior policy adviser to ensure a smooth transition.

“I am proud of what the ODOT team under my leadership has accomplished for the citizens of Ohio,” Marchbanks said in the release. “And I thank Governor Mike DeWine for granting me the privilege of leading one of Ohio’s most important and influential agencies.”

Boratyn has 30 years of public service experience, the press release said. At that time, his roles included deputy director and chief of staff at ODOT. Boratyn also worked for eight years as general counsel for the attorney general, “overseeing the transportation department.”
