On Thursday, the Serbs nearly pulled off the biggest upset of the Summer Games, losing 95-91 to Team USA in a thrilling game. Bogdan Bogdanovic scored a team-high 20 points in the loss, and three-time NBA MVP Nikola Jokic finished with 17 points, 11 assists and five rebounds.
Germany was unable to defend its perfect Olympic record against France, which won 73-69 in front of its home crowd. Dennis Schröder (18 points) and Franz Wagner (10 points) were the only German scorers with double-digit scores.
While both teams naturally wanted to fight for the gold medal, the battle for the bronze medal is likely to be a hard-fought one.
