Taylor Swift fans receive free necklaces at Vienna Swarovski store after shows cancelled due to alleged terrorist attacks

After Taylor Swift canceled her three Vienna Eras Tour concerts this week due to a suspected terrorist attack, many fans in the Austrian city decided to meet up anyway to support each other and explore Vienna.

The Vienna Tourist Board has posted on Instagram all the ways fans can enjoy the city, including numerous free activities or discounted admissions designed especially for Swifties in light of the canceled shows.

One such invitation for fans was to stop by the Swarovski Store at Crystal Worlds and treat themselves to a “crystal surprise.”

As some fans on TikTok and X (formerly Twitter) showed, the unique gift that fans could claim after showing their ticket to one of the canceled shows was a necklace from the brand packed in a bag with various crystal pendants.

The Vienna Tourism Board announced on August 9 that the necklaces were sold out in the store “due to overwhelming demand,” but that they still wanted to invite their fans to a special price.

Elsewhere in the city, fans were offered free or discounted food, free museum admission or specially themed attractions.

On August 8, fans gathered on the street for an impromptu dance party and concert of their own, exchanging friendship bracelets, singing Swift’s songs and keeping each other company during this otherwise scary time.

Swift’s concerts at Ernst Happel Stadium were canceled on August 7, when the promoter posted a message on Instagram that said, “After government officials confirmed a planned terrorist attack at Ernst Happel Stadium, we have no choice but to cancel the three planned shows for everyone’s safety.”

Since then, three juvenile suspects have been arrested. NBC News, AP and CNN previously reported that Austrian authorities believe the first suspect, a 19-year-old Austrian man arrested on August 7, had planned to carry out “an attack” with “explosives and knives” at Swift’s concert.

The second suspect is a 17-year-old Austrian who was also arrested on August 7, and the third suspect is an 18-year-old Iraqi who was arrested on August 9.

Swift’s next concerts as part of her Eras Tour are scheduled for August 15-20 in London.
