Greenwich

Although Greenwich is known for higher than average real estate prices, the website Movoto applies a formula that evaluates the area’s median income to determine whether it is affordable. According to Movoto, “Not only did it rank first overall, but it also ranked first in the individual categories of food costs, utilities and other expenses.”

There is also a low crime rate and good job opportunities with high salaries.

Ridgefield

When it comes to safety, Ridgfield, Connecticut, is hard to beat; it is often ranked as the safest community in the state. According to SafeWise, zero violent crimes were reported here in 2024.

Torrington

In Torrington, you’ll find safety and affordability. The average home value here is $259,424, which is about 35% lower than all of Connecticut, according to Zillow. Torrington also has low rates of violent and property crimes, according to SafeWise statistics.

Middletown

There are so many things to love about Middletown. Not only is it one of the most affordable places to live in Connecticut, according to Movoto, but it also boasts a low student-teacher ratio and low unemployment rate. Considering the median home value in the city is $322,131, according to Zillow, it’s among the most affordable options in the state.

Manchester

Manchester is a great choice if you enjoy shopping and visiting museums. Besides these options, you’ll find a median home value of $296,740 based on Zillow statistics. That’s about $100,000 less than the median home value of $399,242.
