Nighttime asphalt resurfacing and bridge repairs on I-476 next week

WEST CONSHOHOCKEN, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) has announced that resurfacing and bridge repair work will occur next week on Interstate 476 from West Conshohocken Borough, Montgomery County, to I-95 in Ridley Township, Delaware County.

From Monday, August 12, through Friday, August 16, lane closures will be nightly from 8:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. on portions of southbound I-476 between the US 30 (Lancaster Avenue) and I-95 interchanges for milling and paving operations. At the same time, lane closures will be nightly on northbound I-476 between the I-95 and US 1 interchanges for paving operations.

In addition, from Monday, August 12, through Friday, August 16, between 8:00 p.m. and 5:00 a.m. each night, the on- and off-ramps at the US 1 (Lima/Springfield) interchange (Exit 5) will have lane closures for paving work and the installation of an Intelligent Transportation System (ITS).

During the daytime, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Monday, August 12, through Friday, August 16, one lane of roadway with markings will be closed on Baltimore Pike between Turner Road and Paper Mill Road in Nether Providence and Springfield townships for overpass repairs.

In addition, lane closures for the ITS installation will be in place on I-476 northbound and southbound from just south of the Route 3 (West Chester Pike) interchange to the Media/Swarthmore interchange on Wednesday, August 21 and Thursday, August 22 from 9:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m.

Motorists should expect significant congestion and delays and allow additional travel time. All planned activities are weather dependent.

PennDOT emphasizes the importance of these renovations and repairs to increase traffic safety and improve driving conditions. Drivers are urged to exercise caution and patience when traveling through these construction areas.
