U.S. goalkeeper Alyssa Naeher saved six shots in the 1-0 win over Germany in the semifinals, which also backed up the 1-0 win in the quarterfinals, where Naeher stopped the only shot on goal she faced. The Americans had possession 71 percent of the time in that win against Japan and 55 percent of the time against Canada. The young group has been in top form at these Olympics after the USWNT missed the finals in 2016 and 2020.

The Brazilian women are looking to win their first Olympic gold medal after settling for silver in 2004 and 2008, losing both times to the United States. The Brazilian attack was opportunistic in its 4-2 win over Spain in the semifinals, building a 4-0 lead despite Spain having more shots on goal (17-16) and having possession for 68 percent of the game.
