31-year-old inmate of federal prison in Tallahassee dies

An inmate has died after being found unconscious at the low-security Federal Correctional Institution in Tallahassee.

After Shauna Maryann Boselli was found unconscious, “squad command personnel initiated life-saving measures,” according to a press release from the Federal Bureau of Prisons.

“Emergency medical services were called and life-saving measures continued,” the press release said. “Ms. Boselli was transported by emergency medical services to a local hospital and was pronounced dead by hospital staff.”

The press release did not provide an exact cause of death, only noting that “no staff or other detainees were injured and at no time was the public in danger.”

The Democrat asked the office whether the case was being investigated or whether there were any clues as to the cause of death.

The press release said Boselli has been in custody since November 2023. She is a 31-year-old woman serving a 40-year sentence for seduction of a minor. According to Tampa-area news reports, Boselli and her husband were sentenced to 40 years in federal prison and life in prison, respectively, for having sex with a seven-year-old girl.

FCI Tallahassee consists of a low-security women’s prison—Ghislaine Maxwell is perhaps its most famous inmate—and a detention center where men and women are held temporarily, for example, pending trial or after sentencing.

A month ago, a 31-year-old man held at the detention center also died in custody. He was Keondrae Andon Neely, who had been awaiting transfer to a federal prison since April after being sentenced to 20 years in prison by a South Florida court for robbery and weapons possession. Neely was under observation for being “a disruptive individual” when he became “unresponsive.”

In this case, too, no information about the cause of death was released.
