That now appears not to be the case, as the former forensics lab geek will live to fight another day. Dexter: Resurrection has a serious problem with a certain murder that the main character committed in the last episode of Dexter – New Bloodwhen he escaped from prison by killing the innocent and sympathetic Sergeant “Coach” Logan.

Michael C. Hall confirmed at San Diego Comic Con that he would return to his most famous role and elaborated on the nature of his unexpected comeback in a recent interview. Dexter: Original Sin – Michael C. Hall’s narrative must find the right balance

Michael C. Hall is set to be the narrator of Dexter: Original Sin, but the prequel series needs to make sure he is used in the right way.

Why did Dexter kill “Coach” Logan in “Dexter: New Blood”?

Coach Logan arrests Dexter

The hook for the original Dexter series was that Dexter Morgan was a serial killer, with one big difference: he only killed bad people. Aside from a few cases of mistaken identity, Dexter largely stuck to the code his adoptive father, Harry Morgan, had set for him, so he would never take the life of an innocent person. in the last episode of Dexter – New BloodDexter cracks Harry’s code.

Dexter finds himself in a jail cell at the Iron Lake Police Station after his ex-girlfriend, Chief Angela Bishop (Julia Jones), arrests him after finding out he was the Bay Harbor Butcher. When Bishop leaves the station to follow a lead on the missing girls killed by Kurt Caldwell (Clancy Brown), Sergeant “Coach” Logan (Alano Miller) is left alone at the station with Dexter, who calls him into his cell to bring him some water. As Logan approaches his cell, Dexter grabs him, punches him, and grabs him by the neck, demanding the keys to free him from his cell.

Logan grabs his gun and tries to shoot Dexter, causing the serial killer to snap his neck. Dexter takes no pleasure in killing Logan, who is only doing his job, but he does it to escape. Dexter’s final downfall is this murder, when Harrison finds out what his father did and shoots him in the chest.

“Dexter: Rebirth” must go beyond Logan’s murder

Sgt. ‘Coach’ Logan was a respected, upstanding member of the Iron Lake community who volunteered as a wrestling coach at the local school in Dexter – New Blood. BWhen Dexter killed Logan, it was a serious betrayal of his code of honor. In the final episode of the Dexter universe, this incident was the “point of no return” that the main character usually reaches in the age of antihero dramas. In the eyes of the audience, he was now beyond redemption and “deserved” his final fate. But that “end” is now viewed through a different lens, with the announcement of Dexter Morgan’s return in Dexter – Resurrection.

Dexter: Resurrection now has a big problem dealing with what Dexter did to “Coach” Logan, as it goes against everything the character stands for. Dexter has always been a serial killer, but audiences have rooted for him because he only killed the worst in society. How does it work Dexter: Resurrection deal with the fact that Dexter killed one of the good guys? The sequel series will have to somehow get fans back on Dexter’s side if they want to cheer him on again.

It would be easier to handle if Dexter: Resurrection was supposed to be a miniseries that would conclude Dexter’s story and finally bring him to justice for his crimes, similar to Dexter – New Blood should be. However, Michael C. Hall revealed in an interview with Variety that this was not the plan. When asked by the interviewer whether the project would have multiple seasons, the actor replied:

Dexter: Resurrection must show that Dexter feels remorse for Logan’s death, if fans want to revisit the character. Fans were more than happy to witness Dexter’s nefarious deeds in the original series. He killed the best villains of the Dexter series, including Trinity, The Ice Truck Killer, Miguel Prado and many others. However, the murder of an innocent person is Dexter Universe. This will have to be regretted if the new series is to be successful for several seasons.

Another great way to get fans back into Dexter’s camp would be to introduce the most evil villain imaginable for Dexter to defeat. Dexter: ResurrectionIf “the dark defender” that Dexter believed himself to be in Season 2 “resurrects,” audiences would love him again.
