Person arrested after attempted break-in at Drake’s Toronto home, police say

Following a shooting near rap star Drake’s home earlier this week, a person was arrested by authorities on Wednesday after attempting to break into the rapper’s home.

Toronto Police Service officers were called to Drake’s home around 2 p.m. on Wednesday after a person “attempted to gain entry to the property,” police spokeswoman Ashley Visser confirmed to USA TODAY in an email.

Police could not release the person’s identity because the person was arrested under the Ontario Mental Health Act, meaning the incident is not being treated as a criminal matter. Under the law, authorities can take an arrested person to a doctor for examination if officers believe the person is “obviously suffering from a mental disorder” that could cause serious bodily harm, according to the Ontario government website.

Drake vs Kendrick Lamar: All 9 of the rappers’ diss songs from 2024, including “Not Like Us” and “Part 6”

Police did not initially release a description of the suspect or the vehicle. The incident in the “One Dance” rapper’s neighborhood occurred while the 37-year-old was making headlines for a highly controversial feud with fellow rapper Kendrick Lamar that has been going on for several weeks and has spawned numerous diss tracks.

In Lamar’s diss tracks, the rapper from Compton claimed that Drake had a secret daughter, was addicted to gambling and drugs, that his record company had sex offenders on its payroll and that he was supposed to be sitting in a “cell” with Harvey Weinstein.

Meanwhile, Drake claims that Lamar physically abused his fiancée, that Lamar’s child may not be his and that the Californian rapper is leading a double life full of infidelity.
