Even though inflation is declining, some things are still more expensive – and that will likely continue in the fall. Not only will your food budget be hit, other things you consume will also become significantly more expensive.

In fact, the budgets of families who are already struggling with additional costs associated with purchasing school supplies could be put under even greater strain, as rising prices affect more than just basic school supplies.

Why should you expect to continue paying more for certain things? According to Business Insider, “weather events and changing markets have contributed to higher prices.”

Juices

Let’s start with food, as it makes up a large part of most people’s weekly budget and food prices have increased.

If you love orange juice, you know it’s been expensive lately. According to Business Insider, “the cost of frozen juices and non-carbonated beverages increased 20.2% in the last year.” Additionally, plant diseases and weather events have affected orange production – so the impact is being felt in the form of higher prices. That will likely continue into the fall.

Meat

Another food item you can expect to see rising prices this fall is meat. That’s right: Even though meat prices have risen across the board this year, higher feed costs and supply chain issues could send prices soaring again this fall. FYI: These price increases could be across the board, affecting beef, chicken and pork.

Car insurance

If you drive a car, you’ve probably seen your insurance costs increase significantly. In fact, the costs may be so high where you live that they’ve become a topic of conversation over dinner or with friends.

What has led to these significantly higher costs? According to CNBC, historically high vehicle prices following the pandemic and the rising cost of repairing cars are at least partly to blame.

Entertainment

This fall, food might cost more – and entertainment might cost more, too.

You may have noticed that some streaming companies are planning price increases. In addition, tickets to sporting events and other events could become significantly more expensive in the fall.

Plus, you may have to pay significantly more if you want your favorite movie on DVD. Since some stores limit the sale of DVDs, the shortage can lead to higher prices. As with most things on our list, you can still find great deals if you’re willing to shop around.

Cameras

Why buy an expensive camera when you have a phone? That mindset could lead to significantly higher prices for photography equipment and accessories. According to Business Insider, the cost of these has increased by more than 10% in the past year.

Since people have phones for basic photography, they’re looking for higher-end models if they really want to take great pictures. That means more expensive cameras and fewer cheaper options if you’re looking for photography gear.
