Rick Ross sued for lack of wheelchair access at auto show

According to a TMZ report published Friday (August 9), Rick Ross has been sued by a disabled man who claims he was unable to attend the Miami rapper’s 2024 Car & Bike Show despite having tickets. Rozay’s annual car show took place on June 1 at his sprawling Fayetteville, Georgia, estate, nicknamed “The Promise Land.”

In his lawsuit, Darris Straughter, who uses a wheelchair to get around, expressed his excitement about attending Ross’ event but had no transportation. Despite claiming to have been assured multiple times that a wheelchair-accessible shuttle bus would be provided, no vehicle ever came to pick him up.

Darris claimed he sold his own car just to get a ticket to Rick Ross’ Car & Bike Show and paid for his own travel and accommodations. He also claims he contacted the venue two weeks in advance to let them know he needed wheelchair-accessible accommodations. Darris claims organizers told him they would provide a shuttle to take him from the parking lot to Rozay’s event.

Darris and his attorney, John Hoover Esq., claim that event organizers promised refunds to anyone who didn’t show up to the event, but they claim no one contacted them. Darris is suing Rick Ross for breach of contract, unjust enrichment and violation of the Americans With Disabilities Act. He is seeking damages and assurances that Ross’ annual event will be accessible to people with disabilities in the future.

Rick Ross receives criticism for his car and motorcycle show

Although Rick Ross’ Car & Bike Show 2024 was a huge success, many attendees were dissatisfied with their treatment during the event.

According to Rozay, over 12,000 people attended the event. However, many complained about having to wait five hours or more for a shuttle bus to the event. And some people were reportedly turned away from attending the event.

“The fact that you sold tickets but people who traveled over 7 hours couldn’t get in and were turned away! This is bad business and I will NEVER support this AGAIN,” one person wrote on Ross’ Instagram account for his Bike & Car Show.

Another person commented: “I didn’t get a chance to go in because of the shuttle service and extremely long lines. I spent my hard earned money and was disappointed.”
