CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) – Cellular providers across Northeast Ohio are working to restore service to users after Tuesday afternoon’s storm downed power lines and trees, impacting service coverage.
An AT&T representative sent a statement to 19 News on Wednesday afternoon.
“Some of our customers in Northeast Ohio may be experiencing disruptions to their cellular and landline service, primarily due to power outages caused by recent severe weather. We understand how important it is to stay connected and continue to work to restore service as quickly and safely as possible,” the representative wrote.
The wireless company added that customers experiencing issues with their service can reach the company at att.com, through the myAT&T app or by calling 800-288-2020.
Verizon is also reporting outages in the region and is working to restore service to cell sites affected by the storm.
“We are currently working to restore service to cell sites impacted by yesterday’s storm and the subsequent power outages. While our cell towers have backup batteries and generators in the event of widespread power outages, smaller cell sites are not allowed to have backup power by design. Our technicians are working hard to fully restore service as quickly as possible,” a Verizon representative wrote.
Neither company provided a time estimate for when service would be fully restored.
