Rams rookie Jared Verse is getting better “every day”

It’s been a long time since the Los Angeles Rams have had the opportunity to select a player in the first round of the NFL Draft and develop him into a cornerstone of the franchise for years to come.

The Rams drafted Jared Verse No. 19 in April and his development has been very promising so far, as the former Florida State Seminole impressed defensive coordinator Chris Shula.

“He’s gotten better every day. You see exactly what you saw on the Florida State video, and you see him making the necessary corrections and understanding things,” Shula said.

After college, Verse was a multi-award-winning edge rusher, earning two NCAA All-American awards and ranking third in the ACC for sacks (9).

Since this is his first NFL season, Verse will not only learn how to play in the NFL but will also learn a different game system as the Rams will play with a 3-4 defense this season.

“A guy coming from Florida State has a little bit of a different scheme, whereas now we’re moving to a 3-4 defense and asking him to do a few different things. He’s really got it together as a pro. He’s gotten better every day,” Shula added.

This past offseason, the Rams defense took a major blow when future Hall of Famer Aaron Donald announced his retirement from football at the age of 32. Donald has been one of the NFL’s best pass rushers over the past 10 seasons and will be missing from the Rams this season.

The Rams begin his first season with a storming Verse and the team hopes he will develop into a young star.
