Minor driver killed in Clermont County crash, 2 hospitalized

GOSHEN, Ohio (WXIX) – A teen driver was killed and two other people were hospitalized in a crash on Ohio 28 in Clermont County, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

The incident was reported at 9:09 p.m. Saturday between a pickup truck and an SUV on Ohio 28 near Rose Lane.

Initially it was reported that two people were trapped in at least one of the vehicles and were freed, dispatchers confirmed.

According to OSP, the teenager who was in the SUV was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.

The name and age of the juvenile were not released. Police said the minor was not wearing a seatbelt.

According to OSP, a preliminary investigation revealed that the teen was driving the SUV, a 2005 Chevrolet Equinox, traveling southwest on Ohio 28 when he crossed the center line and collided with the oncoming pickup truck, a 2016 Chevrolet Colorado.

The 27-year-old driver of the pickup truck and his 40-year-old passenger, both from Fayetteville, were wearing seat belts.

Both were taken to different hospitals with serious but not life-threatening injuries, police say.

Ohio 28 was closed overnight for several hours while investigators reconstructed the crash. The accident is still under investigation, according to OSP.
