It’s a new, popular holiday spot for Brits – but now you get more for your money too.

Just four hours flight from London lies the stunning Turkish resort Fethiye.

Fethiye is a dream holiday destination for many, we’re sure. With its impressive coral reefs and crystal clear waters, it’s a beach lover’s paradise. From diving and snorkelling to bustling restaurants and bars, you can relax during the day and explore after dark too.

If the gorgeous views, sunshine and endless activities aren’t enough to entice you, perhaps the news that new data shows Turkey is one of the top destinations where the British pound is currently worth the most will convince you to book your next trip?

According to data experts at NetVoucherCodes, Turkey ranks ninth among the countries where the pound is most valuable.

The team has developed a currency conversion tool that helps holidaymakers find out which destinations offer the most value for their money. The tool retrieves monthly exchange rate data for all the world’s major currencies and compares their strength with the British pound.

While factors such as flight length and weather definitely play a role in deciding where to book your holiday, money also remains an important consideration – and travelling to a place with a strong pound means Brits get more for their money and can therefore afford an affordable holiday.

It is not we who chose the life of traveling mathematicians, but the life of traveling mathematicians chose us…

At the top of the list is Lebanon. The Middle Eastern country achieved a percentage change of 493.22 percent within a year.

Second place goes to Argentina (236.83%), followed by Nigeria (117.63%), Malawi (63.41%) and Egypt, which relegates Turkey to the top five with 56.72%.

Turkey itself (ranked 9th) has a one-year percentage change of 22.73%, but technically ranks third over five years at 523.85%. Plus, the flight time is shorter, so you can spend more time on the beach.

According to the Gov.uk website, the FCDO advises against all travel to parts of Turkey. These non-recommended areas include the 10km radius of the Turkish-Syrian border, the city of Sirnak and the province of Hakkari.

Fortunately, Fethiye does not fall into any of these categories, so guidelines currently allow visits to this part of the country.
