The two-week sporting spectacle of the Olympic Games ends this evening with the closing ceremony in Paris 2024.

After unforgettable, action-packed games, all attention turns to Los Angeles 2028, where a star-studded spectacle will take place tonight at the Stade de France.

After rain fell on the opening ceremony on the Seine, Paris should be better prepared for its closing event at the legendary Saint-Denis stadium.

And after Lady Gaga and the return of Celine Dion at the opening ceremony, Paris will have its hands full delivering even more stars to close the games. Here’s everything you need to know about the closing ceremony, where 80,000 spectators will bring the curtain down on this year’s Olympics:

When and where will the closing ceremony take place?

The closing ceremony will take place on Sunday 11 August at 9pm local time (8pm BST) at the Stade de France in Paris.

How can I watch?

Fans in the UK can watch on discovery+, which offers complete coverage of all the action at the Olympics, or on BBC One, BBC iPlayer and the BBC Sport website and app.

BBC coverage begins at 7pm (BST), while Independent Sport will have a live blog covering all the latest news from the Stade de France.

Who will be the star of the closing ceremony?

Not everything is known about the ceremony yet, Paris still has some surprises in store.

But Billie Eilish, Snoop Dogg and the Red Hot Chili Peppers are ready to perform.

Jimmy Fallon, Johnny Weir and Tara Lipinski have also been linked to appearances.

HER is expected to sing the American national anthem during the transfer of power to Los Angeles in 2028.

There is a chance that Snoop Dogg will also be there, after the rapper attended numerous events over the past two weeks.

While Tom Cruise could perform a stunt and slide down the Stade de France.

“This is the biggest moment in LA28 history yet as the Olympic flag moves from Paris to LA,” LA28 Chairman Casey Wasserman said in a statement.

“We are thrilled to showcase the best of LA with local artists and are grateful to Billie, HER, the Chili Peppers and Snoop for collaborating on this incredible show for a global audience, giving fans a taste of what’s to come in 2028.”
