The “world’s first” purely vegan gaming company has launched a new card game called “Plants Against Veganity.”

In this fill-in-the-blank party game, players must match white cue cards and green answer cards in the funniest combinations they can find. The pairings result in witty jokes and irreverent sayings about vegans and non-vegans.
This Is Not A Game founder and vegan activist Rory Cockshaw launched the company earlier this month. He hopes to produce a range of card and board games that will “bridge the gap” between vegans and non-vegans by “poking fun at everyone equally”.
“The hardest thing for a vegan activist is often talking to friends and family about their personal eating habits,” Cockshaw said. Plant-based news (PBN). “People have the impression that we vegans are humorless, inflexible and often not very pleasant to deal with. (…) I want to break this cliché.”

Have more open conversations about veganism
Plants Against Veganity is currently available to buy online, but This Is Not A Game is already working on more quizzes, dictionaries, kids’ games, sanctuary-themed board games, and even a Monopoly-style vegan spin-off.
Several other companies have launched vegan versions of classic games in recent years, including Vegan Top Trumps, Vegan Snap, the true-or-false game Vegan Not Vegan and Eating Vegans. There are also a growing number of vegan board game cafes in the UK, such as Slice and Dice in Norwich and The Dice Cup in Nottingham.
The total number of vegans in the UK rose from 2.5 percent of the population in 2023 to almost five percent in 2024, or about 2.5 million people.
“I believe vegans are some of the funniest, kindest, friendliest people I know – and I wanted to make a game or two to prove it,” Cockshaw added. “By making fun of activists and activism as much as I make fun of meat eaters and climate critics, I can break the taboos and – hopefully – spark more, better, more open conversations in the aftermath.”
