Oregon Ducks “trying to freak me out”

Recruitment isn’t over until a name is on the dotted line. And even then, it’s far from over.

But the Oregon Ducks are working hard to sign a 2026 wide receiver. That work goes back more than a year, although the Ducks did sign their own 2025 wide receiver to the Nebraska Cornhuskers this weekend.

Coach Dan Lanning and Co.’s target is five-star wideout Chris Henry Jr. The 6’5″ and 200-pound Mater Dei player has been committed to Ohio State since July 2023. Did that stop Lanning from bringing the elite receiver to Eugene? Absolutely not.

“Every day they try to freak me out,” Henry told On3 at the Saturday Night Live event in Oregon.

Another five-star receiver, Oregon freshman Dakorien Moore, may have helped on Saturday Night Live. The two were together a lot, doing drills at Autzen Stadium.

Henry said Oregon is working every day to get the Buckeye player to commit to the Ducks, including a Happy Birthday video from Oregon posted to Henry’s X account on his birthday last month. You don’t do that too? Ohio State.

Details and relationships matter, even if other teams don’t realize it. It’s clear that the Ducks have built a relationship with Henry and that seed could produce a recruit that flips.

Henry also told On3 that while his commitment to the Buckeyes remains “strong,” visits to other places, particularly Eugene, have made him think differently than he did a year ago.

“But when I see other schools, I start to see them differently,” Henry said.

Oregon is building a history of signing five-star wide receivers. The Ducks have Moore and Dallas Wilson in the 2025 class and still have Jurrion Dickey on the roster for 2023.

Henry is Ohio State’s only new signing in the class of 2026. The Ducks already have three new signings: 4-star running back Tradarian Ball, 4-star quarterback Jonas Williams and 4-star defensive lineman Tony Cumberland.
