Cubs-White Sox fans take out their frustrations on each other during the crosstown series

The Crosstown Series has seen better days. Both of Chicago’s Major League Baseball teams are having a difficult season and currently neither has a chance to make the postseason.

The Cubs are closer than the White Sox, trailing by 3.5 games in the NL Wild Card standings despite having three teams ahead of them.

Their rivals from across town are coming off an absolutely miserable 100-loss season, and even if the Cubs technically still have a chance at a playoff spot, there’s a good chance both teams will miss the playoffs.

This reality is frustrating for fans and given that we are in August, this frustration is extremely high.

During the Cubs’ 3-1 victory over the White Sox on Saturday night at Guaranteed Rate Field, fans of both teams took out their frustration on each other.

This match was probably more exciting than the two games the Cubs won. There was punching, hair pulling, and several guys losing their shoes during the action.

Leave it to the Cubs and White Sox fans to make the Crosstown Series more interesting

Almost a minute of pure chaos, including one fan in a tank top and another in a White Sox Hawaiian shirt. Men and women threw wild punches at each other. At one point, a fishing hat was even visible.

The brawl, which ultimately involves more than half a dozen fans, begins when a female White Sox supporter punches a person who looks like another female White Sox supporter. The woman responds by pulling the puncher’s hair.

It was like an invitation for all hell to break loose, and that’s exactly what happened. A few security guards eventually intervened, but by that point the fight had mostly died down.

Fans had to recover their shoes and bucket hats before they could return to the misery of Cubs and White Sox fans in 2024.
