5 things you should know and do in the week of August 12th

It’s Monday in Milwaukee, and here are some things we think you should know. If you would like your event to be considered for this column, please send your messages via Click here at least two weeks in advance.

Merrill Park will hold its monthly neighborhood meeting on Monday, August 12th from 6:00-7:30 p.m. at 222 N. 33rd St. Residents will discuss how to improve the neighborhood. Feel free to bring your own snacks. More information here.

The Milwaukee Police Department District 2 invites you to National Night Out. This family-friendly event will feature activities, food and resources from 4-8 p.m. on Tuesday, August 13, at Pulaski Park, 2677 S. 16th St. More information here.

Receive free resources and food during Amani Outreach Day from 12pm-2pm on Tuesday, August 13th between West Burleigh and North 27th Street. If you run an organization or business that serves the Amani neighborhood, you are welcome to bring your own equipment to participate in the resource fair. More information here.



Muskego Way Forward and Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin have partnered to provide a free mobile food distribution to Muskego Way residents. The mobile distribution will begin at 11 a.m. on Thursday, August 15 in the parking lot at 1414 S. Comstock Ave. If you choose to walk, enter the station via West Bow Street. More information here.

The Northwest Side Community Development Corp. is hosting its third annual Family Skate Night on Thursday, August 15th from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at 4350 N. 35th St. Milwaukee Recreation is sponsoring a skate van to provide free skates to children and adults. There will be music and free food, based on availability. Remember to wear socks and bring water. Click here to RSVP. More information here.

Visit the Good Hope Branch of the Milwaukee Public Library on Monday, August 12, from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. at 7715 W. Good Hope Road to participate in arts and crafts. Classes are held on the second and fourth Monday of each month and are open to beginners and experts, from teens to older adults. Knitting, crocheting, knotting, sewing or other fiber-related projects are welcome. Feel free to bring your own materials. More information here.
