How to get the Artisan’s Touch Deviant

Direct links

Deviants offer a variety of bonuses for players in Once human. Some help in your base, while others actively help you in battle. There are also some that produce materials that you can use. One example that deserves a special mention is Artisan’s Touch, a crafting-focused Deviant that produces one of the best quality-of-life consumables in the game.

Artisan’s Touch is one of the best Territory Deviants in Once human simply because of the value of the materials produced. It may not be that useful in the beginning, but once players reach the mid and late game, they will definitely want one of these Deviants in their home.

Artisan's Hand from a Scorcher in Once Human

Unlike many other Deviants in the game, Artisan’s Touch is dropped by enemies rather than appearing as event rewards or as bubbles in the world. More specifically, the enemy you need to hunt is the Scorcher, a giant Deviant with a flaming cement mixer for a head. They are considered elite enemies and are therefore harder to defeat compared to your regular Stardust monsters. As always, make sure your weapons are in Once human will be updated before you take on something that is at a higher level than you.

There are three areas where you can find a roaming Scorcher:

  • Hearst Industries (Broken Delta – over the Deadsville Bridge): Found in one of the factory buildings in the middle of the complex.
  • Greywater Industrial Zone (Iron River – west of Greywater Camp): Found wandering near the warehouses on the upper level.
  • Eastern Railway Junction (Broken Delta – northwest end): Found near one of the derailed railroad cars. Follow the tracks.

Scorchers in the open world are large bullet sponges that split in two when their health is low enough. Riddle them with bullets, and you can loot their corpses. If you’re lucky, Artisan’s Touch is among the items you can loot from them. The chances of getting this Deviant are pretty slim, so expect to fight multiple Scorchers before you get one.

What does Artisan’s Touch do?

All-purpose hand description in Once Human

The Artisan’s Touch Deviant produces Universal tool sets and unlocks the All-purpose hand tactical item to craft at your Advanced or Intermediate Supplies Workbench. All-Purpose Hand will repair the least durable piece of gear you have equipped, but will not work on looted gear. To craft one, you’ll need the following:

  • 40 universal tool sets
  • 15 Acid
  • 40 Stardust Source
  • 1 (Beryllium/Iridium/Platinum) crystal

Although using All-Purpose Hand is not necessarily cheaper than repairing items at home, it is definitely much more convenient. In the late game, the durability of weapons and armor decreases very quickly. when fighting Once human Monolith bosses and the ability to repair gear without having to go home is a godsend for players who want to farm non-stop.

The real sticking point with crafting All-Purpose Hand is the cost of Acid and Stardust. Both can be difficult to collect in large quantities, so unless you’re swimming in resources, you’ll want to craft All-Purpose Hand sparingly.
