Garbage can manufacturer opens repair and refurbishment center

Storm Environmental, a manufacturer of steel-bodied vessels, has opened a 50,000 sq ft repair and refurbishment facility in Kidderminster.

The new site, called Storm Plus, will offer a range of after-sales services, including refurbishment of both Storm and other manufacturers’ containers.

The system is designed to be environmentally friendly. Water from the tank washers is filtered and reused, and the paint shop has a water curtain recovery and underbody capture system to prevent emissions from being released into the atmosphere.

Axine Taylor will act as General Manager of the new facility, while Mike Salter will oversee production as Team Leader.

She said: “Storm Plus effectively provides a repair shop for containers, refurbishing them to a standard that is almost indistinguishable from new. Customers have told us that their main issues are quality and that containers requiring refurbishment are collected and returned on the promised delivery date. With the new manufacturing facility and a large administration and customer service team, we are confident that Storm can provide a better customer experience in these areas than it currently does.”

Salter said: “All containers processed at the plant, whether Storm products or not, receive the Storm Plus treatment. After the containers have passed the incoming inspection and correction process, which ensures they meet the requirements of the European standard EN 840, they are sandblasted on the line inside and out and then dried in a continuous oven before being refinished in any RAL colour. New castors, lids and logos are also applied.
before the finished containers are delivered to the shipping area.”

“We listened to potential customers who told us they were concerned about the disruption and emissions caused by other companies’ on-site service. Storm Plus’ new production line is based on robust systems that prevent any emissions into the atmosphere and ensure that all the water used is filtered and recycled.
for reuse in the factory.”
