This “feathered” style was extremely popular in the 70s and 80s and is made up of multiple layers that add both shape and volume to the hair. For this “feathered effect,” the layers are often given a thin finish, and although this hairstyle is mainly associated with medium to long hair, I find that it works beautifully on short hair too.
