Uisce Éireann says repair work on reservoir pumps at Sliabh Breá will continue

Water supplies are affected in parts of Blakestown, Kilpatrick, Smarmore and surrounding areas.

According to Uisce Éireann, work is ongoing to restore water supplies to residents in parts of Blakestown, Kilpatrick, Smarmore and surrounding areas following a pump failure at Sliabh Breá Reservoir.

The teams have been on site since early this morning and work will continue tomorrow.

James OHagan of Uisce Éireann assured customers that every effort would be made to restore water supplies as quickly as possible: “We understand the inconvenience of an unplanned interruption and thank customers for their support while repairs are carried out.”

An alternative water supply is being mobilized and will be available at Ballapousta Church from 1:30 p.m. today until the outage is resolved. As a precautionary measure, water must be boiled before use.

We will provide vulnerable customers registered with Uisce Éireann with direct notifications of planned and unplanned outages lasting more than four hours. Uisce Éireann will continue to provide detailed, up-to-date and local information on water supply and utility issues on www.water.ie.
