Four-star offensive tackle Josh Petty for 2025 transfers to Georgia Tech

Another target for Ohio State’s offensive line for the class of 2025 is no longer available.

Josh Petty, a four-star prospect who will play offensive tackle at Georgia in 2025, committed to Georgia Tech on Monday, which had been expected since last week. Ohio State and Florida State were other strong competitors for Petty, who chose to stay close to home.

The 6-foot-5, 275-pound Petty took an official visit to OSU on June 14, and until two months ago it didn’t seem like the Buckeyes had gained much momentum in recruiting him, but a late push wasn’t enough to keep the Yellow Jackets at bay.

Carter Lowe and Jake Cook remain the only offensive players committed to OSU for the 2025 cycle. With Petty now unavailable, all eyes turn to David Sanders Jr.

Sanders, the top-ranked offensive tackle in the 2025 class, is scheduled to commit at 12:30 p.m. Saturday and will likely choose either Tennessee or Ohio State. With less than a week to go before the announcement, the Vols have the most momentum nationally, but the Buckeyes still believe they have a chance in recruiting.

If OSU fails to land Sanders, the team will have to start all over again in recruiting offensive linemen for the 2025 cycle, as most of the other offensive linemen it offered for that class have since committed elsewhere.
