Top senior tight end recruits for the 2024 season

With the 2024 Ohio high school football season upon us, it’s time to take a look at some of the state’s highest-rated recruits. In this series, we’ll focus on the top recruits at a handful of positions for a specific graduating class.

We’ve introduced you to the senior quarterbacks, senior running backs, senior linebackers, senior edge rushers, senior wide receivers and senior defensive backs so far. Now let’s take a look at the top tight end recruits in Ohio for the class of 2025.

The best tight end of the class of 2025 in Ohio is Luka Gilbert of Lakota West. The 6’7″ and 235lb senior has chosen the University of Miami (Florida).

Three of Ohio’s top five senior tight ends will play college football in the Big Ten: Brody Lennon of Gilmour Academy has committed to Ohio State, Tyler Kielmeyer of Westerville South is heading to Northwestern and Brian Kortovich of Villa-Angela-St. Joseph is transferring to Purdue.

The fifth member of the group, Caden Piening of Anderson, is heading to the Sunshine State where he will play for Central Florida.

1. Luka Gilbert, Lakota West; 6’7″, 235 lbs (No. 10 overall in Ohio’s Class of 2025)
Committed in Miami (Florida)

As a junior for the Firebirds, he caught 15 passes for 171 yards and scored two touchdowns, earning honorable mention All-Ohio honors in Division I.

2.Brody Lennon, Gilmour Academy; 1.93 m, 100 kg (No. 22 overall)
Committed to the State of Ohio

As a junior, he caught 32 passes for 750 yards and scored 11 points. Also plays on the defensive line and was selected to the All-Ohio second team for his defensive performance as a junior.

3. Caden Piening, Anderson; 1.93 m, 104 kg (No. 24 overall)
Committed to Central Florida

In his second year as a starting tight end for the Raptors, he caught 35 passes for 600 yards and five touchdowns in his junior season.

4. Tyler Kielmeyer, Westerville South; 2.01 m, 106 kg (No. 32 overall)
Commitment to Northwestern

In his junior season for the Wildcats, he caught 18 passes for 383 yards and two scores and was named to the All-Conference first team.

5. Brian Kortovich, Villa Angela-St. Joseph; 1.93 m, 102 kg (No. 36 overall)
Committed to Purdue

His recruiting prospects increased as he dropped from 6’2″ and 150 pounds to 6’4″ and 220 pounds in two years and moved up from wide receiver to tight end. He had more than 20 offers, including from other Big Ten schools such as Illinois, Indiana and Northwestern.
