The U.S. men’s basketball team won Olympic gold after defeating France on August 10.
The highlight was an incredible three-point shot by Steph Curry, which led to the lead and with which the American team brought home the most coveted trophy in sport.
Team USA was loaded with talent, with Golden State Warriors guard Curry, Los Angeles Lakers guard LeBron James and Phoenix Suns guard Kevin Durant making up the team’s “Big 3.”
Team USA was completed by fellow Laker center Anthony Davis, Suns guard Devin Booker, Miami Heat center Bam Adebayo, Minnesota Timberwolves guard Anthony Edwards, Philadelphia 76ers center Joel Embiid, Indiana Pacers guard Tyrese Haliburton, Boston Celtics guard Jrue Holiday, Boston Celtics forward Jayson Tatum and Boston Celtics star Derrick White.
Despite their consistently talented team, James, Curry and Durant played incredibly well throughout the series, leading the team to its fifth consecutive Olympic gold medal.
To celebrate this happy occasion, Topps Now is releasing an extremely rare signed card (1/1) featuring James, Curry and Durant.
The rare card can be found in the 26-packs of TOPPS NOW® Men’s Basketball – 2024 Olympics cards currently being sold. The base card retails for $11.99, with additional packs costing up to $169.99 for a pack of 20 cards.
The ultra-rare signed card will be included in one of the packages, so collectors will have to hope they can get their hands on the 1/1 collectible. Even more impressive than three NBA superstars on one card is that James, Curry and Durant have never been featured on a card together.
James, Curry and Durant were instrumental in helping the US team win the gold medal game. As mentioned, Curry had one of the best performances of the game, scoring 24 points, five assists and making 8/12 3-pointers.
James scored 14 points, 10 assists and six rebounds, while Durant scored 15 points, four rebounds and four assists.
Just behind the Olympics’ big three was Booker with 15 points, six rebounds and three assists. Davis contributed eight points and nine rebounds, while Edwards also contributed eight points.
Team USA was determined to bring the gold medal back to the United States. In the semifinals, the team was nearly defeated by Serbia. After trailing in every quarter and trailing by 13 points early in the fourth quarter, the team finally fought back with a 95-91 victory.
Team USA made sure that wouldn’t happen in the gold medal game, as they seemed to have control over France from the start. The final score of 98-87 was a testament to the unwavering spirit of the entire team, and Curry sank eight 3-pointers.
