Margot Robbie gave us many unforgettable style and beauty moments with BarbieFrom her on-screen wardrobe to her worldwide parade of red carpet looks inspired by the famous doll, the 33-year-old actress really took her transformation into the iconic doll to heart.
But all good things must come to an end, and it looks like Robbie has said goodbye to her Barbie era (maybe not forever, but definitely for now) with a radical hair change.
On April 13, she attended the Breakthrough Prize ceremony at the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures in Los Angeles, where she debuted a new haircut and a darker blonde color.

Celebrity pro Aleksey Bishop took Robbie’s hair from chest-length strands last seen at the 2024 Oscars on March 10 to a sophisticated, angled long bob that touches her collarbone. Colorist Jacob Schwartz enhanced Robbie’s natural brown hair with a darker blonde with brunette roots and highlights. Hairstylist Christopher Farmer was responsible for giving Robbie’s short haircut a tousled French girl aesthetic.

“Growing up, I always cut my Barbies’ hair. Cutting the real Barbie’s hair is a real circle,” Bishop wrote on Instagram.
Stylist Andrew Mukamal dressed Robbie in a minimalist Rick Owens dress with a strapless neckline that perfectly showcased all the glamour of the bob.

In July 2023, when Robbie was on the world tour with her golden mane, Barbie At a press conference, Schwartz told E! that his favorite way to lighten the star’s hair without damaging it is to add extra highlights.
“I select certain fine strands for her entire hair,” he said. “I weave a certain number of highlights into different parts of the base rather than bleaching her entire hair.” His goal was to maintain a “natural, effortless” look that suited the star.

Neither Robbie nor her glamour team gave the reason for her recent cut. Perhaps she was ready for a change or it could indicate a new role (there is a lot of talk about Robbie producing a live-action Monopoly movie and she also stars in A great, brave, beautiful journey, which required a costume with bangs).
Whatever the story behind Robbie’s hair transformation, one thing we know for sure: she – like many other stars who have opted for a haircut in 2024, including Jennifer Aniston and Rita Ora – is setting the bar high for one of the biggest hair trends of the year.
