Ørsted Marine Affairs and The Better Bay Alliance host public presentation on Revolution Wind construction project

On Thursday, August 22nd at 7pm, the Better Bay Alliance in collaboration with Ørsted Marine Affairs will host a public presentation at the Wickford Senior Center in N. Kingstown, Rhode Island. The goal of this event is to provide detailed insights into the Revolution Wind Construction project and its impact on the local community and marine environment.

The event will begin with opening remarks by Dave Lussier, president of the Better Bay Alliance, a nonprofit organization that promotes safer boating in Rhode Island waters. Lussier will stress the importance of proactively communicating with the public regarding upcoming work that could impact boating safety, including the installation of the Revolution Wind Farm and its cable connections to shore. This offshore wind farm will be connected to shore via cables through the West Passage of Narragansett Bay and a substation in Quonset, Rhode Island.

“The BBA does not have a partnership with or support Ørsted. We are simply an interested party who wants the boating public to fully understand Ørsted’s plans to ensure that boating safety remains a priority for all users of the waterways,” Lussier explained. He added that the Better Bay Alliance neither supports nor opposes offshore wind.

In response to the need for transparency, the Better Bay Alliance has developed the LIVE CHART product. This tool illustrates specific areas and timelines for the Orsted Cable lay activities and ensures that stakeholders remain informed. In addition, the organization disseminates news of many other events and activities on the water through the LIVE CHART product, including categories for sailing, power, social (jazz/folk fests, fireworks, Aquapalooza) and other (cruise ship visits, swimming in the bay). LIVE CHART is free and easily accessible on the BBA website: www.betterbayalliance.org.
