Buckeyes open 2024 season ranked No. 2 in AP poll

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State Buckeyes begin the 2024 season ranked No. 2 in the Associated Press Top 25 poll, continuing their streak of top-five finishes in the organization’s first poll of the season. Since 2013 — in 12 preseason polls — the Buckeyes have been ranked in the top 10 every year and have been in the top five 10 times. This is the fourth time in the last eight years that Ohio State has begun the season ranked No. 2.

That’s not the only impressive streak that continued Monday, though. The Buckeyes extended their nation-leading streak of preseason AP Poll rankings to 36 consecutive years, which is 11 years longer than any other team in the country and also the longest in Associated Press history.
