There have been rumors and speculations for some time now that AMD is planning to release two new entry-level RDNA 3 GPUs.

As we reported last week, there was speculation that the manufacturer would launch RX 7400 and RX 7300, which were supposed to be entry-level GPUs based on the Navi 33 chip. However, according to a recent source, it looks like those plans have been dropped, at least for now.

Entry-level 7000 series graphics card dropped in favor of RX 8000 series

According to a recent report from Benchlife, AMD appears to have canceled the new RDNA 3 graphics cards – or at least put the GPUs on hold for now. This is because the RX 7400 and RX 7300 have not been spotted on any AIB partner’s development list. “Radeon RX 7400 and RX 7300 are not currently on any AIB partner’s development list. This is a fact that we are aware of,” the post on Benchlife states. This means that these GPUs, if they were developed, have currently been delisted.

The reason AMD is pulling the plug (possibly temporarily) is the upcoming RX 8000 series, which will be the next mainstream line of graphics cards. “As mentioned, everyone is currently busy with the next generation of Radeon graphics cards based on the RDNA 4 GPU architecture,” the post clarified.

Anyway, AMD has made some changes to its previous GPU series. For example, last week there was a report on IT Home claiming that AMD is stopping production of some RDNA 2 graphics cards, including the RX 6600, RX 6600 XT and RX 6650 XT. In that report, we mentioned that AMD is making these changes to prepare for the next generation of GPUs.

AMD’s next big launch is the RX 8000 series. Aside from some specifications, not many details are known about these RDNA 4 GPUs. Recent speculations suggest that the GPUs will launch in early 2025, but this has not been confirmed by AMD.
