Wayne A. Hall 1948-2024 – Franklin County Free Press

Wayne A. Hall, 75, of Shippensburg, passed away on August 12, 2024 at home surrounded by his loving family.

He was born on December 24, 1948 in Chambersburg to the late Elmer C. and Elsie M. (Kauffman) Hall.

Wayne dedicated his life to his family’s dairy farm, where his passion for milking and caring for his cows was reflected in his daily work. A member of various Holstein associations, Wayne’s dedication was recognized by numerous awards at local fairs and the Pennsylvania State Farm Show, showcasing the quality of his dairy herds.

Like his father before him, Wayne felt a strong calling to serve the Lord and focused his midlife on serving others. Wayne served as pastor of several churches including Piney Creek Brethren Church in Taneytown, MD, Locust Grove Brethren Church in Mt. Airy, MD, and Dry Run Covenant Brethren Church in Dry Run, PA.

Most recently, he served as interim pastor of the Shippensburg Covenant Brethren Church. Wayne was known for his commitment to his community, regularly visiting members and praying for others. He was also an active volunteer and participated in church missions and service projects. Wayne’s love for his faith and farming was expressed in his book, Loving the Lord and the Land.

Wayne was an avid outdoorsman and especially enjoyed hunting with his son and grandson. He was an avid fan of the Baltimore Orioles and Pittsburgh Steelers, but most of all he cherished time spent with his family.

Wayne is survived by his beloved wife of 56 years, Diane M. (Ocker) Hall; his daughter Deb Brenize and her husband Rod of Manheim, PA; his son Bill Hall and his wife Gladys of Enoree, SC; his grandchildren Landon, Tanner, Carson, Alix and Rae; his brother Don Hall and his wife Loretta of Shippensburg; and his aunt Louise Helm, also of Shippensburg.

Services take place in Dugan Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc.51 Asper Drive, Shippensburg, where a viewing will be held on Friday, August 16, 2024, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

Another visit will take place on Shippensburg Brethren Church253 E. Garfield Street, Shippensburg, PA 17257, on Saturday, August 17, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. The Rev. Harold Yeager will officiate.

Wayne will be buried in Name of the cemetery.
