Banks will connect with Thang Rath app for digital handouts

All banks are ready to join the Thang Rath application’s open payment system, which can disburse digital payments of 10,000 baht to eligible Thais under the government’s digital wallet program, a government spokesman said. Chai Wacharonke said on Wednesday.

Updating the progress of the program, whose registration began on August 1, Chai said the Thai Bankers Association reported that all banks were ready to cooperate with the government in connecting to the Thang Rath app’s open payment system.

Chai said the association has instructed its Payment System Office to work with the Chief Information Officers (CIOs) of each bank and coordinate with the Digital Government Development Agency (DGA), which developed the application, to ensure a clear understanding of the open-loop payment system architecture.

“The association is confident that the connection of the payment system can be completed on time,” said Chai.

The spokesperson also warned the public not to believe false news claiming that registering for digital money on the Thang Rath application risks sharing personal information with third parties.

“The Ministry of Digital Economy and Society stresses that the Thang Rath app was developed by the DGA to provide the public with quick and secure access to government services. The application is secure, transparent and fully auditable,” Chai said.
